Birthday In The Mountains and Double Birthday Party

We got up yesterday at 7am to go to the mountains to celebrate Sibyl's birthday. We left at just after 8am and headed south. We went down through Auch, Lannemezan, Arreau, St Lary Soulan and then through the Tunnel de Bielsa to Spain. We only went down as far as Bielsa, where we did a little bit of shopping (cigarettes and booze mainly) and I got a few miniatures to add to my collection - I have started collecting miniature bottles of alcohol ever since our trip to Cognac in April.

After that, we had a drink in a small bar there which was lovely, and headed back up the mountain towards the tunnel. We stopped at a layby, on the side of the road, next to the river. We had our picnic and champagne, and then went down on the rocks in the river to take pictures of Sibyl on her birthday drinking champagne in the mountains in Spain! We sent an MMS to her sister with a picture on it too! It was great actually because she's been wanting me to take some new pictures of her for Facebook etc. so it was the perfect opportunity for a little photoshoot with a stunning backdrop. We got home at around 5pm, had to rush around feeding dogs etc, and get sorted for going out in the evening to celebrate Sibyl's and Edith's birthdays. We ate in the restaurant in La Sauvetat, and the meal was fabulous. The restaurant has recently been taken over by new owners, and the food and the service is excellent. They are really lovely people too.

As you can see from the photos we had it all looking beautiful beforehand, and afterwards it was total devastation!

Some people left at around midnight, but my mum, Sibyl and I stayed behind to chat and to help the owners clear up. We finally got home around 2am, so we've all been a bit knackered today!
